For over one year we’ve been talking about implementing the Voices of Rural Minnesota program. We are happy to say that the application materials are available and the program will launch this fall!
Purpose Statement
The Voices of Rural Minnesota program seeks to increase awareness of the rural and tribal experience by educating key stakeholders on the realities of small rural and tribal communities through storytelling and information dissemination.
Program Goals
The Voices of Rural Minnesota Program will engage a group of up to 30 individuals from across Minnesota to:
- Identify and develop individual public presentation skills
- Recruit and train a diverse group of speakers representing all regions of MN
- Provide speakers with accurate information to use to move audiences to action
- Educate, motivate, and empower community members to play a larger role in community issues
- Identify and collaborate with partners to identify and research impact of current policies on rural issues
- Identify venues for speaking engagements
- Create powerful public presentations that highlight life in small rural communities
- Create and implement evaluation processes to access impact of program

The Hoffman Community Profile has been updated! The most recent version includes evaluation findings from Study Circles and LeadershipPlenty and copies of the community’s Horizons Team Agreement and workplans. (Keep in mind that the team agreement and workplans are subject to revision as community priorities and resources shift.)

Hoffman Horizons was recognized for community efforts at a statewide event held in St. Cloud on April 24th. Beverly Durgan, Dean of University of Minnesota Extension, presented each community with a plaque in celebration of their successful Horizons work.

Our 3rd Annual Quilt and Food Bonanza will be held on Saturday, April 17th
from 10:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m. at the Hoffman Square (John Kleinsasser Gym)
Luncheon will be served from 11:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. A free will offering
will be taken.
Anyone interested in displaying quilts should notify HEDA at 320-986-2598 or
e-mail heda@runestone.net .
Admission to Quilt Display is $2.00. Door prizes as well as “Viewers’ Choice”
prizes will be awarded.

The Spring Clothing Exchange and Give Away will be held on Saturday, April
17th from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Hoffman Community Center. You
may donate spring clothes for the exchange on Friday, April 16th from 7:00 a.m.
to 12 noon &/or 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (If possible, please separate by sizes
and have them in bags.) All items should be clean and in good shape.

Hoffman Lions Club, would encourage all residents to turn their lights (lights only)off at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 27th for ONE HOUR - and join millions of other people around the word to recognize the need for action on climate change.
Last year nearly one billion people in 4,000 cities in 88 countries joined togetherfor this event and the number is expected to rise this year.
You can make a difference by turning your lights off - - you will show, and share,your concerns for the environment and climate change.

The Fall Clothing Exchange will be held this Saturday, September 19th from 9 a.m. to Noon. All items are FREE.You may bring items in on Friday, September 18th from 7 to 9:00 a.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. This will be held at the Hoffman Community Center. Bring usable clothing!!! The perfect time to clean your closet.
